  • Senior Electrical Designer

    Our client, a regarded professional services firm is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to lead and oversee electrical engineering activities across conceptual design, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning. Reporting to project leadership, this role manages multidisciplinary coordination, technical studies, vendor bids, and project deliverables for industrial facility projects while mentoring junior engineering staff. This is a great opportunity for those currently based in or looking to move to Calgary. While this position is an exceptional opportunity for anyone looking to establish their career in Calgary, our client is unable to offer relocation financial support, relocation must be self-funded.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Lead electrical engineering for assigned projects, developing Design Basis Memorandums (DBMs), Project Execution Plans (PEPs), scopes of work, man-hour estimates, and TIC cost estimates.
    • Develop, review, and professionally seal electrical drawings, specifications, single line diagrams, area classification reports, and conduit/cable tray schedules.
    • Size electrical services, utility interconnections, UPS systems, power distribution, and heat trace systems; manage E-House and electrical building design and construction.
    • Perform and oversee power system studies including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash hazard analysis, and motor starting.
    • Review P&IDs, control narratives, and shutdown keys alongside civil, mechanical, and instrumentation teams to ensure integrated facility design.
    • Interface directly with clients, utilities, and regulatory bodies; specify, quote, and evaluate technical bids for equipment and contract services.
    • Participate in constructability reviews, support field construction and commissioning, review RFIs, and provide on-site technical assistance.
    • Provide technical guidance, code interpretation, and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and designers.

     

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an active P.Eng. registration with APEGA (or transferrable Canadian professional engineering status).
    • 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience within an EPC firm or end-user in the energy/industrial sector.
    • Deep working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and relevant industrial codes/standards.
    • Proficient with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office suite; experience with ETAP and/or SKM power system analysis software is a strong asset.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, balance multiple priorities, and deliver project packages under tight timelines.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, professional approach to team coordination and client management.

    • Public Practice Experience: Minimum of 2 to 3 years of recent experience within a Canadian public accounting firm environment.
    • Technical Breadth: Demonstrated proficiency in preparing complex tax returns across multiple diverse entity types.
    • Accounting Depth: Strong accounting background with a robust understanding of Canadian tax law. Hands-on knowledge of foreign affiliate rules is considered a strong asset.
    • Technology Proficiency: High proficiency using industry software such as CaseWare, Taxprep, and QuickBooks.
    • Core Competencies: Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary for effective client interaction and internal team collaboration.

  • Structural Engineer, Calgary (Remote but must reside/work in Calgary)

    Our client is a highly respected engineering firm seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join their dedicated structural forensics and design team in Calgary. This multi-faceted role blends rigorous technical design with active hands-on field investigations. This is a remote position; the incumbent must work and reside in Calgary/surrounding area.

    You will be responsible for leading field forensic investigations of structurally compromised or damaged buildings, translating site data into detailed engineering repair plans, and performing preliminary designs for new construction and renovation projects.     CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

    Forensic Field Investigations & Site Review

    • Quality Control & Growth: Participate in internal peer reviews of colleagues’ reports and drawings and occasionally support firm growth through client presentations and marketing initiatives.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Graduate of an accredited four-year post-secondary Civil or Structural Engineering program.
    • Current P.Eng. registration with APEGA in good standing.
    • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in structural engineering design, forensic investigation, and construction review.
    • Deep working knowledge of the national building code part 9 and relevant CSA standards (specifically CSA O86 Engineering Design in Wood).
    • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel for site investigations.
    • Engineering & Drafting Software: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT. Working knowledge of WoodWorks and Bluebeam is highly preferred.
    • Project Tools: Strong experience with project management platforms (Monday.com, Ajera) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).
