Family Law Legal Assistant

Our Calgary client is seeking an experienced Real Estate Legal Assistant to support a busy real estate law practice. The successful candidate will bring strong experience with residential and commercial real estate transactions, excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, a high level of professionalism, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused team environment.

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare, organize, and manage documents for residential and commercial real estate transactions, including purchase, sale, refinance, and lending files
  • Coordinate with clients, realtors, lenders, opposing counsel, land titles offices, and other parties to ensure timely and accurate completion of transactions
  • Draft and revise correspondence, reporting letters, closing documents, undertakings, trust letters, and related transaction materials
  • Open, maintain, and close real estate files while ensuring deadlines, key dates, and post-closing obligations are tracked and completed
  • Assist with title searches, registrations, discharges, payouts, and other real estate file requirements
  • Prepare trust requisitions and support account reporting in accordance with firm procedures and applicable requirements
  • Provide proactive administrative and file-management support to lawyers and paralegals within the real estate practice group
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma 
  • A minimum of three to five years’ experience supporting a real estate law practice is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of residential and commercial real estate transactions, including purchase, sale, refinance, and mortgage files
  • Experience with title searches, land title registrations, closing documentation, trust accounting processes, and post-closing follow-up
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple transactions, priorities, and deadlines with accuracy
  • Advanced computer skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and real estate conveyancing or document-management software
  • Excellent client service skills, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to set priorities while managing conflicting and emerging deadlines
