Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to be the team leader to supervise, plan and work together with their professional associates to ensure and execute engagements.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and work with the Office Manager to schedule the firm’s professional staff based on capacity by prioritizing meeting deadlines based on client needs’
  • Follow established firm’s policies and procedures and compliant with accounting standards
  • Lead the completion of the overall assurance, tax, and advisory work process by identifying risks and controls, scoping development, and designing the appropriate approach, ongoing client communications, and reporting
  • Review and guide the preparation of financial statements, including all the required notes and year-end letters (i.e. enclosure letter, legal information letter, and engagement letter, etc.)
  • Lead, coach and train accounting associates as needed, to ensure file high- quality documentation and procedures are met with firm expectations
  • Work on advisory projects with the practitioner, and staff, or independently to provide client performance analytic results
  • Understand client needs within the advisory services and provide client solutions to meet client needs and successful results
  • Provide guidance or assistance to the bookkeeper as needed and improve the work quality and process when applicable
  • Review corporate tax returns, and personal tax, as well as work closely with practitioners on complex and special tax plans and transactions
  • Responsible to oversee all CRA tax audits and inquiries at all levels and delegate responsibilities to associates
  • Assist the practitioner in identifying advisory opportunities within existing clients as well as research for new opportunities outside of the existing client base
  • Conduct research as required to identify benchmarks and/or industry best practices for assessing risks across the business
  • Offer sound financial solutions in general to clients in collaboration with the practitioner to maintain excellent client service
  • Assist practitioner with management services engagements with various clients when appropriate with the collaboration of advisory team
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Recent CPA designation/completion
  • 1 to 2 years of experience managing accounting staff
  • Thorough understanding of the current standards and guidelines of ASPE
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards and guidelines as well as bookkeeping
  • Solid knowledge of the income tax act and up-to-date with current tax changes/updates
  • Proven experience communicating clearly and effectively with Clients and staff
  • Proven leadership and business-driven
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail and deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously while taking accountability for deadlines and commitments
  • Comfortable contacting clients; conscious of client relations and expectations

Technical Skills:

  • CaseWare / Caseview
  • Diverse in ERP systems
  • Sage 50 / Quick Books / Xero
  • Excellent in Excel and PowerPoint
